The College Success Advisor serves current students in an assigned cluster of programs and assists them with registration, billing, and financial aid. This person also helps students clarify their path, helps them stay on their chosen path, and ensure they are meeting milestones that lead to graduation. The College Success Advisor provides information on career and educational planning and assists students with the registration processes. Also, the College Success Advisor establishes and maintains positive relationships with colleagues, staff, and faculty.
Provides holistic advising to current students within an assigned cluster of programs regarding and not limited to the following areas:
Academics ? course selection and registration/registration eligibility
Financial Aid ? FAFSA completion, verification paperwork submission, and award acceptance
Account Balances & Billing ? proper disbursement of awarded aid and payment of any uncovered balance, along with ensuring refund preferences are set.
Career and Transfer Resources ? exploration of options in conjunction the Career & Transfer Center, faculty advisors, and other campus resources
Personal Wellbeing ? providing referrals to on- and off-campus resources to support students? personal wellbeing including physical and mental/emotional health.
Meets with students for advising appointments in-person, over the phone, or via Zoom meetings based on the advisor?s and student?s preferences.
Participates as an active member of the College Success Advising team during meetings and provide timely feedback when requested.
Serves as an essential member of the College Success Advising team during campus-wide events and campaigns to support new and current student success.
Bachelor?s degree
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate in both small and large group settings and with diverse groups of people including co-workers, students, business contacts and at various levels from front-line to administration.
Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, to meet deadlines, to maintain and access paper and electronic files, to produce error-free final products, and to manage time and output.
Excellent customer service skills required
Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
Enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of helping other people
Ability to function collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, customer oriented team
