Job Summary Provide expert, future-oriented vision and technical leadership for IT systems to support UI Press's strategic development and success. Maintain Press website and advance web development and programming needs for UI Press publishing program. Supervise IT and data information staff and serve as in-house liaison to UI IT service providers and external IT vendors. Serve as a member of the Press management team, participating in planning, budgeting, and strategizing with director and other department heads. Duties & Responsibilities
Provide creative, future-oriented vision and technical leadership for IT systems to support the Press's publishing program. Serve as an advisor to the Press management team, contributing technical expertise to visioning and strategizing for the Press's future and sustainability. Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate UI Press IT and information management staff.
Lead and contribute to application development, including for web-hosted content. Identify current and future electronic publishing needs and collaborate with Press staff and management in planning for their solution.
Maintain the Press's web site. This includes the web site's content and internal and external functionality and presentation, as well as direct-to-consumer sales of Press publications. Create web companion sites for selected books and journals and upload supplemental materials.
Ensure timely implementation of new and emerging technology and standards to existing published content. Ensure implementation of accessibility standards and compliance with State and University policies.
Perform e-commerce processes and new product developments. Maintain integration with University iPay system, developing and upgrading as needed.
Serve as in-house liaison to UI Technology Services in relation to system requirements, database development, and equipment purchases and maintenance. Serve as in-house liaison to UI AITS in relation to desktop support. Serve as technical liaison to Virtusales for Biblio data management system.

College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT Systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: - 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) - Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months) - 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) - Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
Work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field, which includes supervisory or lead worker capacity.
2. Demonstrated computer programming and/or web development experience.
3. Demonstrated Supervisory experience.
4. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Three to four years of experience in computer programming. 2. Minimum one-year supervisory experience. 3. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Experience with web development and familiarity with application frameworks.
2. Advanced understanding of CSS, HTML, XML, and JSON marketing protocols.
3. Familiarity with implementation concepts related to responsive design.
4. Strong computer skills including the ability to effectively use software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills to address difficult, complex issues.
6. Independent decision-making ability that reflects good judgment and discretion.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with University staff and external agencies.
8. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments to produce accurate, detail-oriented work while meeting stringent deadlines.
9. Proven ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently.
10. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
11. Familiarity with publishing environment.
12. Evidence of broad intellectual curiosity.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5030 - Information Technology Manager/Administrative Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 9/12/2024. Salary is commensurate with experience. System Office jobs such as this one are not eligible for the Referral Program. Sponsorship for Work authorization is not available for this position.
Salary range is $80,000-$90,000, salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the full range for a position.'
