This Supervisory Medical Care Transpiration Technician - Supervisory Paramedic position is assigned to the Department of Veteran Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Transportation Services (VTS), Ambulance Service, in various VA Medical Center (VAMC) locations with an emergency room, acute care or urgent care clinic, or other similar departments performing basic and advanced life support procedures. English Language Proficiency Requirement: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is serving as a lead/supervisor and technical advisor pertaining to emergency medical services; performing the duties and responsibilities of a paramedic that includes but is not limited to responding to accidents and other emergencies involving injury and illness; supervising and/or administering life-sustaining aid to patients; performing patient triage and employing a variety of advanced emergency medicine procedures during transport; planning the work of other paramedics and subordinate staff members; and observing workers' performance and conducting performance evaluations. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. OR Education: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an internship where it is directly related to the work of the Supervisory Medical Care Transportation Technician position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.
