The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an ACADEMIC ADVISOR III to focus on Academic Success Coaching. Academic success coaching is a strategic, personalized partnership designed to help students achieve educational and personal success. The success coach will offer one on one support to help students create action plans for overcoming barriers that impede their ability to create and achieve goals. Common topics discussed in coaching include College Transition, Organizational Skills, Time Management, Goal Setting and Planning, Motivation, Strategies for Studying, Note Taking, and Test Preparation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct one on one academic success sessions and develop personalized success plans for Birmingham Promise Students, SAP students, students who are identified as at risk or severe academic performance issues and any students on campus who requests the resource.
Work closely with advisors in VMASC and across campus to provide success coaching and workshops for students as needed Monitor the academic performance of students who are required to complete an academic success plan.
Engage with students referred from other offices to offer guidance and support on academic success initiatives to assist with academic success.
Outreach to students who are placed on academic probation to provide assistance and support required for future academic success.
Track progress of all students and complete reports on support initiatives.
Facilitate academic success workshops and oversee the success workshop initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
(Annual Salary: $46,530 - $49,640)
Qualifications
Master's degree in Counseling, Education or a related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
