This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Medical Office North (MON) Hillcrest, La Jolla and remote.
DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager the surgery coordinator is responsible for the coordination of surgery scheduling and surgery related issues. Schedules outpatient clinic appointments, related tests, procedures and pre- and post-op appointments. Confirms referrals, authorizations are appropriate for level of scheduled services. Functions as liaison for patients, physicians, hospitals, and other departments regarding scheduling, authorization and patient surgery preparation. Provides support for DME ordering and coordination of services. Determines patient problems and inform appropriate individuals of solutions and/or make recommendations as appropriate. With the approval of the Clinic Manager, the Surgery Coordinator initiates and participates in improvement efforts which directly impact the practice. Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of three (3) years of related surgery scheduling experience in ambulatory setting.
Experience processing authorizations, referrals, and with financial oversight; or anequivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience and ability to work with electronic medical records and appointment scheduling.
Ability to process and secure appropriate referral and authorization for services as needed.
Ability to understand functions and responsibilities of clinical support units.
Demonstrated understanding of the TAR process.
Ability to articulate physician's areas of expertise.
Understands and applies Cash Pay/Self Pay processes.
Possess the extensive knowledge and skills for practice in Ambulatory setting.
Proficient knowledge of MS Office.
Must possess the ability to maintain diplomacy at all times when working with patients, physicians, co-workers, and other UC departments and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience or training with Epic.
Bilingual English/Spanish.

Annual Full Pay Range: $54,664 - $67,944 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $26.18 - $32.54
