The mission for The Center for Autism & Neurodevlopmental Disorders (CAND) at UCI is to provide help and hope to individuals with ASD, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental disorders and their families through excellent clinical service, education & training, research, and community engagement. The Psychologist will work with amongst a team of professionals including psychologist, medical professionals, behavioral consultants, educational consultants, speech-language pathologists, social workers, and a variety of faculty, staff as well as the graduate students, residents, and pre and post-doctoral fellows.
Your Role on the Team
The position of the Psychologist will work under the general supervision of the Psychology Division lead to support the overall objective of CAND. When providing clinical effort towards a research project, will work under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator for that effort. This incumbent will perform direct clinical care to the pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients, such as diagnostic assessments, individual therapy, group therapy and related services to individuals with autism, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. The employee may provide teaching and consultative services to other professionals and health care trainees such as graduate students, residents, post-doctoral scholars, and practicum students. May provide teaching and educational opportunities to families and other community agencies through workshops, classes, conference presentations and/or other formats. May be involved in community meetings and outreach working with a variety of individuals, such as educators, families, students, and community providers. Assist with additional duties as needed.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
Doctorate in clinical psychology or counseling
Current, valid license n California as psychologist. Out-of-state licensed psychologist have 180 days to complete licensure requirement in the State of California.
Thorough knowledge associate with providing evaluation, diagnosis, and psychotherapy services.
Thorough knowledge of applicable laws and standards of professional conduct.
Thorough knowledge of diagnostic/psychological testing methodologies.
Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Thorough skills associated with conducting complex diagnosis, problem solving and critical thinking.
Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with diverse client group, members of the medical staff and faculty.
Ability to conduct complex analysis and develop and present recommendations and course of treatment.
Knowledge of electronic / medical records systems.
Experience across all 4 modules of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS).
Familiar with the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R).
Clinical experience (5+ years) with individuals from early childhood through young adulthood (at least 22 years of age) and their families.
Clinical experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders
