DESCRIPTION
UCSD Department of Psychiatry is one of the most innovative and productive academic departments of psychiatry in the country with cutting-edge research and state-of-the-art clinical services. Under supervision, the incumbent will work as a Research Study Assistant 2 to assist the PI and research team on multiple studies focused on improving functioning in adults with serious mental illness and Alzheimer's disease within the Department of Psychiatry. The incumbent will perform duties and responsibilities under close technical supervision that include assisting with psychophysiological assessment, neuropsychological assessment, psychophysiology, and clinical interviews; assisting with recruitment and scheduling of participants; collecting, scoring, entering, and processing data; and setting up and providing support for mobile data collection devices. Under supervision, the incumbent will assist with regulatory documentation, manuscript preparation, and general lab assistant duties include monitoring equipment and lab supplies, preparing data collection packets, maintaining study databases, and assorted research-related laboratory, computer, and administrative tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and two years of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and one year of laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

Ability to prioritize workload and work independently.
Proven ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population.
Ability to maintain and protect confidentiality of participant information.
Proficiency in using web-based database platforms, such as REDCap, and strong computing skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Familiarity with administering and scoring psychological assessments.
Experience interacting effectively with co-workers as well as research participants.
Ability to collect, code, and score data using computerized and pencil and paper measures according to study protocol.
Previous experience in a research lab setting.
Training and proficiency in participant data collection using a pupillometer.
Experience administering detailed clinical interviews including socioeconomic status, academic achievement, medical and mental history, and current/past substance use information.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field.
Experience with research data entry techniques and software.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Must be willing to work with study participants who have a diagnosis of schizophrenia or older adults.
Must have ready access to reliable transportation and be willing to travel off-site.
Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and evenings as needed.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $45,999 - $54,079 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $22.03 - $25.90
