DESCRIPTION
The Director is responsible for the oversight and operation of the UC San Diego Health East Campus Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) department. This position oversees all managers and programs for the department, and is responsible for adhering to the regulatory requirements and ensuring all policies and procedures are being met. The Director is the representative in committees or other interdisciplinary groups for the East Campus FNS department.
Establishes operational objectives and initiatives and seeks/ provides resources to meet schedules and goals. Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements. Identifies risks and responds accordingly. Involved in developing, modifying and executing policies that affect immediate operation(s) and may have health system-wide impact. Works on issues where analysis of situations or information requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives. May serve as subject matter expert.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and direction to subordinate managers. Communicates and implements Food and Nutrition department vision, mission, goals, objectives and strategic plans with subordinate personnel.
Administers performance and personnel management.
Administers quality control systems in food production and presentation within units.
Enforces, reviews, and interprets safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
Develops and monitors budgets having department-wide impact.
Administers strict adherence to IPCE and all regulations mandated by local, state and federal agencies in regard to safety, health and sanitation regulations.
May be required to operate a vehicle.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in a related area and seven years of relevant experience in food and nutrition services, or eleven years of combined experience, education and training.
Experience and strong knowledge of food service and sanitation regulations.
Certified Dietary Manager or Registered Dietitian required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Supervisory or managerial experience, preferably in food service industry.
Relevant experience in a hospital setting.
Current UC San Diego Health employee.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must pass a background check.
Must pass physical, drug screen and TB test.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $77,000 - $139,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $36.88 - $66.67
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
