Summary
The Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost (SVPP) at Iowa State University (ISU) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Strategic Budget and Finance Advisor. The SVPP office oversees the academic division at the university, comprising seven academic colleges. This also includes other units such as the Vice President for Research, Vice President for Extension, Graduate College, University Library, U.S. Department of Energy Ames National Laboratory, Enrollment Management, and affiliated academic units including Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, Lecture Series, Institutional Research, Ombuds, Program for Women in Science and Engineering, Study Abroad Center, University Honors Program, and the Faculty Senate. The successful candidate serves as a member of the provost cabinet and is responsible for consulting with the Senior Vice President and Provost in managing the fiscal affairs of the SVPP office. This position also involves supervision of the SVPP budget team. The successful candidate will also interact with budget leaders in academic divisions around campus regarding prioritization of the use of fiscal resources in support of the institutional strategic plan, and in setting budgets for future fiscal years. Example of Duties Manages financial planning and analysis activities to identify risks and opportunities and contribute to the achievement of the universitys short and long-term financial goals. Manages the most complex, large, or difficult analysis projects; evaluates findings, prepares reports and makes recommendations to senior management about the financial implications of proposed investments and transactions. Contributes to the development of financial strategies for a division that align with the universitys overall vision and its current and long-term business objectives. Establishes and maintains positive, ongoing relationships with the external financial community. Leads, directs, evaluates, and develops a team of financial professionals to ensure financial planning and analysis projects are conducted credibly and that recommendations and reports are accurate and timely. Interfaces with top management, responding to their requests for financial data and to resolve reporting and compliance issues. Coordinates, negotiates, and resolves financial compliance issues with various governmental agencies to ensure accurate interpretation.
