The Vice President for Academics Office at Cedarville University invites applications for a Dean of Undergraduate Studies to join our academic leadership team.
The Dean of Undergraduate Studies (DUGS) facilitates the offering of undergraduate programs at Cedarville University, engages with Academic Schools to advance mission-aligned, quality, marketable, and sustainable programs; manages the auxiliary departments within the Academic Division, including the Academic Enrichment Center, International Student Services, the Study Abroad Program, and the Writing Center; partners with the Dual Enrollment (DE) program to ensure that the needed courses are available for DE students, supports the institutional-level administrative tasks required for efficient and effective undergraduate program operations including faculty development, curricular review, and policy development; and manages student complaints and appeals per university policy.
This position is an advocate for and encourages high standards for teaching, research, and scholarship among faculty teaching at the undergraduate level. The DUGS chairs the curricular subcommittees and serves on the University Academic Leadership Group, the University Curricular Committee, and the VPA’s Academic Council. The DUGS supports undergraduate programs in maintaining compliance with various accrediting agencies, serves as a mentor and advisor to Deans of the academic schools in addressing faculty supervision and student academic issues, mentors undergraduate faculty to encourage optimal performance, recruits adjuncts faculty needed to meet DE and Christian School Partnership program demand in collaboration with School Deans, reviews adjunct and overload expenditures for undergraduate courses, and manages student intervention reports.
Position Requirements:
Strong commitment to Cedarville University's doctrinal statement and mission and the academic division's mission and objectives.
Earned Ph.D. or comparable terminal degree with the qualifications to receive an appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor in one of the University's schools and a record of teaching excellence and academic achievement preferred.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, discernment, discretion, and integrity with sensitive and confidential information.
Experience with strategic and intentional budget management, planning, forecasting, and allocations.
Engagement with and connection to initiatives, best practices, and trends related to undergraduate education, student success, assessment of learning, and curriculum.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Effective organizational and time management skills, including demonstrated proficiency in meeting deadlines and responsiveness to student and faculty communication.
Commitment to service excellence.
Proficiency with standard office software, applications, and learning management systems.
The ability to work collaboratively on a team or lead such a team.
