The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, the incumbent functions as part of a team of Assistant Deans, providing comprehensive support to SIPA's student population of over 1400 students across seven-degree programs. In this capacity, the incumbent is charged with advancing the overall mission of the University, SIPA, and the Office of Student Affairs and enhancing the student experience at the school. Responsibilities span all aspects of the Student Affairs operation including academic advising, academic policies and requirements, registration, , student life, discipline (involving academic integrity and behavioral misconduct) and student events and outreach. SIPA's Office of Student Affairs is committed to excellence in student service and seeks professionals with experience assessing student needs and designing, planning, and delivering graduate student programs. Candidates with international education experience and/or experience working with international student populations are preferred.

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Associate Dean, assumes primary responsibility for managing major student events at SIPA, including but not limited to new student Orientation, co-leading OSA???s Peer Advisor Program, SIPA Commencement activities, training sessions and workshops, and SIPA Town Halls.
Responsible for generating an annual Student Experience Survey and ensuring all OSA webpages are accurate and up to date.
Provides coordination for student academic competitions and conferences, and supports the annual Global Public Policy Network (GPPN) conference with partner schools.
Advises a cohort of 175 full-time MIA and MPA two-year students on course selection, registration issues, and degree requirements and provides specialized advising for subsets of the student population, such as Columbia University dual-degree students.
Liaises with various Columbia student services providers (Office of University Life, ISSO, Health and Disability Services, CUIT, Library, Public Safety, Risk Management, and Housing) regarding information and resources available to SIPA students.
Serves as a person on-call for student emergencies and as a Delegate for the University.
When requested by the Associate Dean, serves on OSA???s Discipline Hearing Panels (considering matters of academic integrity and behavioral misconduct).
Serves as a member of SIPA???s Admissions Committee. Reads up to 200 applications annually as determined by the Associate Dean in close consultation with the Executive Director of Admissions and Financial Aid.
Serves as OSA???s liaison to SIPA???s Career Advancement Center regarding internships and professional development ??? two core requirements for the MPA and MIA degree. This work also includes organizing professional talks as part of the ???SIPA Speaks??? program and coordinating the annual cohort photos and professional headshots for students.
Creates and maintains a comprehensive OSA manual of policies and procedures
Responsible for benchmarking best practices within and beyond the Columbia community on Student Life, Student Affairs, and Academic Advising.
Manages OSA???s Tutor program for Math and Writing ??? runs a competitive process to identify and onboard the tutors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
Must have 3-5 years of related experience.
Ability to work independently and adapt to shifting priorities, work with a wide range of constituencies, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Must have strong computer skills including thorough familiarity with the use of spreadsheets.
Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Superior writing ability and overall communication skills with diverse audiences are essential.
International education experience and cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to prepare and deliver presentations to diverse audiences of students, faculty and staff are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Additional years of related professional experience.
Knowledge of the field of International Affairs or Public Administration, as well as SIPA, is highly desirable.
Familiarity with SIS, SSOL, Microsoft Office Suite, and various social media platforms preferred.
Experience/familiarity with budgets and financial management preferred.
