Position Summary
Basic Function & Scope of Job
The Assistant/Associate Dean for Admissions reports to the Dean and is responsible for the overall direction and performance of the law school's full-time JD Program recruiting and admissions process. The Assistant/Associate Dean also works closely with the law school's Vice Dean and Dean with regard to admissions process for the law school's part-time JD Program.
Essential Functions
Oversee administration of the Law School Admissions Office. Select, train, supervise and evaluate professional and support staff. Develop and manage the annual operating budget, in consultation with the Vice Dean. Oversee all office procedures, use of internal databases and management of student record systems.
In conjunction with the Dean and the faculty Admissions Committee, develop admissions policies and direct a comprehensive program for the recruitment, admission, and retention of new students. Design and implement strategies to meet enrollment goals and objectives for the annual entering class. Collect, analyze, and report recruitment and enrollment data; analyze demographic trends and other data to create short- and long-term recruitment plans and new policies.
Design and implement predictive modeling tools to strategically forecast admissions trends and yield. Interpret and administer existing admissions policies and develop new policies with the Admissions Committee, as needed.
Develop and manage application review process to ensure timely file review and decision-making. Collaborate with the Admissions Committee to ensure the consistent review and evaluation of application files. Make JD admissions decisions. Provide counseling for prospective and admitted students. Represent the Law School at forums, fairs, and individual speaking presentations throughout the state of Florida and nationwide. Travel required. Assist the Vice Dean and other administrators in responding to ABA questionnaires and surveys related to admissions and financial aid.
In conjunction with the Dean and Vice Dean, develop, monitor, and revise scholarship/discounting strategy to achieve enrollment and net revenue goals.
Collaborate with the Law School Director of Communications and Marketing to plan, organize and produce web and print-based marketing materials, social media communications and recruitment/yield efforts to cultivate relationships with prospective students from inquiry to matriculation. Design and implement quality control systems for monitoring all electronic, web-based, written, and oral communications. Oversee event planning and execution. Communicate with industry media and serve as a representative for the law school when appropriate.
Minimum Required Education and Experience
Five to seven years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in a law school or graduate/professional school admissions office or similar required, with three to five years of experience working in an ABA-accredited law school with supervisor responsibility preferred. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school preferred. Admission to the bar also preferred. Prior experience in public speaking is desired.
