The Office of Global Services (OGS) at Northeastern University manages programming, advising, and compliance for F-1/J-1 nonimmigrant students. OGS is looking for a graduate student to join our team. The intern will gain key experience in the field of international education. Interns will work closely with the team, focusing on the comprehensive advising side. Interns will also have the opportunity to work on specific projects depending on individual interests and skill base.
The position will be based at the Boston campus for the duration of one semester, September to December 2024.
This position is paid and part-time, scheduled for 20-30 hours per week. Potential for hybrid work and flexible hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Supporting international students and scholars on immigration related matters, employment authorization, acculturation, academic, social, personal adjustment, etc.
Initial screening and review of documents directly related to maintaining F-1 nonimmigrant student status.
Working closely with leadership and advisors to initiate and/or develop projects directly related to the functioning of the office and the experience of students throughout their lifecycle.
Supporting with various programming initiatives and events based on need.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A graduate degree candidate in a field of study either directly or closely related to International Education
Strong oral and written communication skills
Must be detail-oriented
Excellent organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a demanding work environment.
