The Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Counseling Services. The Gatton Academy is a public residential STEM program established and funded by the Kentucky legislature. It is located on the campus of Western Kentucky University. Students complete their last two years of high school in the program while earning at least 60 hours of college credit. This is a 10-month position that reports to the Director. Gatton staff are employees of WKU. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are customary for this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs. Provide mental health counseling services for students. Oversee and implement Gatton crisis protocols and intervention. Facilitate interactions with WKU and local agencies for physical and mental health needs. Manage the area of Counseling Services within The Gatton Academy. Articulate the goals and vision for The Gatton Academy’s counseling program to all stakeholders Oversee all aspects of Gatton’s counseling services including counseling support college counseling student testing (i.e. ACT KSA) and student wellness. Supervise professional staff members and student worker(s) Manage division budget from annual state operating funds Envision new programs opportunities for growth and refinement of services for division Implement monitor and assess functions of the division including tracking annual performance indicators for division Develop counseling services web and social media content Serve as an LPCC Supervisor as needed Develop monitor and implement social emotional programming wellness programming and counseling-related training. Coordinate and lead student special community events such as retreats. Provide staff training related to teen mental health. Coordinate and Teach Academy Seminar Coordinate the Gatton Academy Seminar program Teach ACMS 175 for seniors Ensure ACMS 175 is in keeping with the curriculum guides and meets students’ needs Coordinate support for students who qualify for ADA services Liaise with the WKU SARC office. Serve as Gatton’s coordinator for testing accommodations with College Board ACT and the Kentucky Department of Education. Serve as part of the Gatton leadership team and as a college application process advisor for students.
