Requirements
The Office of Admissions is responsible for recruiting and admitting students to Georgetown University in Qatar's (GU-Q) Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service degree program.
The Admissions Officer's role is to support the Office of Admissions across a number of functions to include: admissions counseling and communications with prospective students and school counselors, conducting applicant interviews, preparing applications for review, and planning for admissions yield activities.
This is a term position through the end of the academic year.
As this position is based in Doha, Qatar and offers no relocation assistance, GU-Q is looking for locally based candidates only. This is a non-sponsored position that requires all applicants to already have the necessary sponsorship to live and work in Qatar.
Key Accountabilities
Support the Office of Admissions across a number of functions including representing GU-Q at public events, fairs, school visits and visits to campus, admissions counseling, conducting applicant interviews, preparing applications for review, and planning for admissions yield activities.
Actively engage inquiries and applicants to maximize the number of applicants as well as admitted and enrolled students.
Key activities
Promote GU-Q through participating in admissions recruitment events including college fairs, campus tours, and high school visits locally and internationally.
Deliver admissions presentations, conduct admissions workshops, and lead information sessions.
Counsel prospective students and families through the application process, answering relevant queries regarding requirements.
Provide timely responses to email inquiries from prospective students, applicants, and their families.
Conduct admissions interviews and provide written summaries for use by the Admissions Committee.
Proctor Admissions Writing Exercises as needed.
Conduct regular application checks to ensure applications are processed in a timely manner, including assignment/review of counselor and teacher references, transcripts, standardized test scores, English language proficiency scores, personal statements, writing exercises, etc.
Follow-up with applicants and counselors, regularly and as needed, and ensure application completion.
Manage applicant files and conduct application review in preparation for Admissions Committee Review.
Support planning and execution for recruitment and yield events.
Other similar duties, as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree
1-3 years' experience working in university admissions preferred.
Experience using Slate or similar CRM and Admissions application functionality preferred.
Familiarity with international educational systems and credentials, and an understanding of US university admissions.
Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills, including public speaking skills and the ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Ability to recruit locally and internationally, if needed. Driver's license required.
Excellent attention to detail, and the ability to organize effectively.
