Wright State University is seeking a dynamic and collaborative professional to enhance and support the experiences of Pre-Health students throughout their academic journey. This role will involve advocating for, leading, and managing the Medical Scholars Program and the Pre-Health Professional Program. Additionally, this role will ensure coordination of the Medical Scholars Program and the Pre-Health Professional Program, serving as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and partnering departments. This role is crucial in fostering interprofessional collaboration, enhancing student success, and advancing the mission of the Center through effective program management and support from the initial acceptance of students in Pre-Health majors through to the completion of their enrollment at Wright State.
Required Qualifications::
Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, Education, Public Health, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience in program coordination or administration, preferably in a higher education or healthcare setting.
Demonstrated experience in budget management and financial oversight.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with database management and student information systems.
Understanding of higher education structures and processes, particularly in health professions education.
Knowledge of program development, implementation, and evaluation.
Familiarity with student advising and support services.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as required by program activities and events.
Preferred Qualifications::
A healthcare-related licensure or certification (RN, LPN, PCT, CHES®, CPH, EMT-B, NRP, etc.) is preferred but not required.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
40% Pre-Health Professional Program Coordination
Oversee the Pre-Health Professional Program, ensuring comprehensive support and guidance for students pursuing careers in health professions.
Develop and implements program curriculum and activities.
Set appointments, meet, and guide students on graduate or professional school planning, career pathways, and professional development.
Collaborate with faculty and academic advisors to ensure program alignment with academic standards and industry requirements.
Monitor student progress and provide individualized support to enhance their success.
20% Medical Scholars Program Coordination
In collaboration with the Boonshoft School of Medicine MPH coordinator, manage the Medical Scholars Program, focusing on the recruitment, retention, and success of students committed to careers in medicine.
Coordinate application processes, selection criteria, and admission activities.
In conjunction with the Boonshoft School of Medicine placements coordinator, organize mentoring and shadowing opportunities with medical professionals.
Plan and execute workshops, seminars, and networking events for program participants.
Track student performance and outcomes, providing necessary interventions and support.
Working Conditions::
This position will primarily be based in an office setting within the Center for Health Professions at Wright State University in Dayton, OH. Occasional travel may be required for off-campus events, meetings, or conferences.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
May need to lift and move items up to 20 pounds occasionally. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends occasionally as required by pre-planned program activities and events.
Frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
