The Johns Hopkins University School of Education invites applications for a Lecturer in the Counseling and Educational Studies Department, beginning August 2024 for a one-year appointment. The SOE offers two counseling tracks, School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The School of Education ranks #15 among the nation's finest graduate education programs according to the latest ranking from U.S. News and World Report.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach eight (8) courses per year.
- Teach both on the School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health courses.
- Supervise and advise students.
- Provide service in the program.
- Maintain active membership and involvement with an appropriate counseling professional organization (i.e., ACA, MCA, ACES, ASCA, etc.).
- Participate in program development and accreditation activities, including the ongoing assessment of the program, curriculum, and student learning.
- Participate in professional service at the school, university, state, regional, and national levels.
The candidate may be required to teach in both a traditional and distance learning format.
Qualifications
- A doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited program.
- Completion of all doctoral requirements prior to employment.
- Either eligibility as a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) or school counseling certification.
- Ability to successfully teach in a diverse urban setting with a large international population.
- Knowledge of the CACREP standards and process.
