Carthage College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin is accepting applications for Head Football Coach. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Football Coach supports the mission of the College by leading and managing all aspects of the College’s football program, developing and executing effective coaching strategies, recruiting talented athletes, overseeing team practices and games, fostering a positive team culture, and ensuring the overall success and growth of the program. Head Football Coach provides the strategic oversight of the department and supervision, guidance, and leadership to Assistant Football Coaches.
Requirements
Coordinates the overall football program to ensure the proper teaching and coaching of the sport within the policies of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) and Carthage College. Supervises the program to include recruiting, budget, facilities and the general welfare of student-athletes participating in Football. Develops comprehensive and innovative coaching strategies that enhance the team's performance and competitive edge. Plans, organizes, and leads effective practice sessions to improve players' skills, game understanding, and physical conditioning. Provides personalized coaching to players, helping them reach their maximum potential and contributing to their individual growth as student-athletes. Identifies and recruits talented student-athletes who align with the program's values and contribute to the team's success. Develops and maintains relationships with high school coaches and other sources to identify and attract top prospects. Manages the recruitment process, including evaluating prospects, conducting campus visits, and coordinating with admissions offices. Develops game plans that leverage the team's strengths and exploit opponents' weaknesses. Analyzes game footage and provides constructive feedback to players to enhance their understanding of game situations. Adjusts strategies in real-time during games based on opponent behavior and game flow. Monitors and supports players' academic progress, promoting a balance between athletics and academics. Collaborates with academic advisors to ensure players are meeting their educational goals. Represents the college football program at media events, alumni gatherings, and community activities. Builds and maintains positive relationships with alumni, donors, fans, and the local community. Collaborates with various departments on fundraising, community engagement, and promotional activities. Ensures compliance with all NCAA and CCIW rules, regulations, and institutional policies. Manages team budgets, travel arrangements, and other administrative responsibilities. Coordinates football publicity with the Athletic Communications Staff. Serves on National, CCIW and College committees as appointed. Attends all CCIW and National football meetings. Provides leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the Assistant Coaches, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Recruits, develops, and retains top talent, ensuring a skilled and motivated workforce. Monitors and manages the department budgets, resources, and expenditures effectively.
