Responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the university's student conduct system through collaborative relationships with internal and external partnerships, data-driven practice, and an understanding of today's college students.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Supervises employees; evaluates staffing needs; assigns and reviews work; establishes timeframes for the completion of tasks; trains and orients new employees; approves and/or disapproves requests for leaves; interviews candidates for employment and recommends for hire; evaluates work performance; receives and responds to grievances; provides assistance with the development of unit work procedures and policies; recommends and provides staff development opportunities.
Serves as the conduct administrator with responsibility for the administration of all aspects of the student conduct process. Develops conduct policies and procedures, manages conduct referrals, adjudicates alleged violations, interprets policies, maintains student conduct records, prepares various internal and external reports, and performs long-term planning for the work unit.
Ensures appropriate hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, and continuing education for both direct and indirect supervisees. Ensures objectivity and consistency.
Reviews the membership of the Student Conduct Board annually. Advertises for the board, recruits faculty, staff, and students to serve, and provides annual and ongoing in-service training for all members. Coordinates selection of a hearing panel and other hearing logistics as necessary.
Provides periodic review and revision of The Student Code of Conduct, in consultation with the Dean of Students. Stays abreast of developments within the field and makes recommendations regarding other campus policies and processes with regards to possible impacts on students' rights, responsibilities, and/or due process.
Assists with administration of the university's medical review process.
Aids in processing of student academic and non-academic complaints.
Coordinates scheduling and hearing processes for student academic grievances against faculty.
Serves as an advisor for Student Government Association (SGA) election ethics board (per SGA bylaws).
Works closely with university leadership as needed in the management of alleged violations of the academic integrity policy. Provides advisement to the Academic Grievance Committee during student hearings to ensure due process is upheld. Assists in the selection of student members of the Academic Grievance Committee and training of all members.
Responds to reports of violations of the sexual misconduct policy, in collaboration with the university's Title IX staff. Assigns charges appropriately and administers the student conduct process accordingly upon completion of an investigation and referral from the Title IX Coordinator.
Provides background and conduct checks for both internal and external parties. Responds to public records requests.
Educates the campus community about policies, student rights and responsibilities, and the process by which cases may be referred for review.
Coordinates with the University Police Department on cases that span both jurisdictions.
Administers student conduct database(s). Assists other users in completing updates and implementing new processes. Provides trouble-shooting assistance at the campus level.
Serves as a member of the University CARE team.
Attends and participates in University functions on behalf of the office and division.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Performs other related duties as assigned.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday; evening/weekends as necessary.
Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over staff and student employees.
Knowledge of: relevant laws and policies impacting the student conduct process and higher education, including but not limited to: Title IX of the Higher Education Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Drug-Free Schools Act, Jeanne Clery Act.*
Skill in: both written and verbal communication to a diverse audience.
Ability to: think critically about complex issues, synthesize information succinctly, and maintain objectivity in decision making; ability to navigate complex and politically sensitive issues, and to make and stand behind unpopular decisions.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a master's degree and four or more years of progressively responsible administrative or leadership experience in higher education. Two or more years of professional experience with student conduct cases or processes; proficiency in usage and management of Maxient software; experience with the creation or revision of policy and procedures; experience applying motivational interviewing techniques.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of relevant laws and policies impacting the student conduct process and higher education, including but not limited to: Title IX of the Higher Education Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Drug-Free Schools Act, Jeanne Clery Act. Experience working with Banner software; demonstrated ability to obtain and apply assessment data to improve practice; commitment to ongoing education and professional development of self and others who interact with the student conduct system; prior experience working with law enforcement personnel; prior experience working with campus life.
