Northmarq is looking for a Commercial Insurance Manager to join its Servicing department in the Minneapolis (Bloomington, MN) headquarters office. This position oversees, develops, and provides leadership to an analyst team within the Insurance team. This individual will be responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating staff performance, with a high emphasis on developing and growing team members. Managers ensure their team and department comply with all service agreement responsibilities, minimizing risk for the company and investors. They also develop systems, policies, and procedures, and work to achieve maximum efficiency in the department. The individual is expected to achieve individual objectives while working within the department to reach annual goals and accomplish strategies. Additional responsibilities may be added to adapt to company growth.
Position Responsibilities:
Organization & Planning
Plan and schedule own workload to most efficiently meet daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual benchmarks.
Perform quality control monitoring to promote accuracy, identify development opportunities, and establish consistency.
Develop and enforce policies and procedures pertaining to insurance administration. Serve as an advisor to various procedure committees.
Team Development
Develop, train, and assess the competencies of the commercial insurance risk manager, analyst, specialist, and/or insurance coordinator. Serve as a mentor and a resource of technical knowledge.
Identify growth areas for individual staff and facilitate the necessary coaching/mentorship/opportunities to assist in employee growth.
Direct and motivate staff through daily interaction and workload discussion.
Interview, hire, and evaluate staff performance, as needed.
Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings with staff, allowing for open communication and frequent feedback surrounding job performance and growth.
Execution & Direction
Provide leadership for staff responsible for investor and lender insurance guidelines, in relation to servicing commercial mortgage loans.
Provide effective and efficient training, to ensure the growth and development of staff.
Administer competency and performance reviews as scheduled, with an annual summary. Analyze annual compensation in relation to employee’s annual performance.
Develop and implement systems for maximum efficiency and service.
Ensure that the highest level of customer service is provided to all customers, internally and externally.
Serve on leadership teams, councils, and strategy groups.
Build lender relationships through conference attendance, lender visits, and monthly conference calls.
Perform/lead other reasonable tasks/projects, as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree, with a preferred emphasis in Business Administration, Finance, or Real Estate
3 to 5 years of leadership/supervisory experience or a demonstrated ability to lead staff; and experience with commercial property insurance and/or asset management
Required knowledge of Microsoft Office
Knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, policy performance, and associated risks
Ability to analyze commercial asset characteristics, risk, and related insurance coverages
Knowledge of mortgage performance metrics and terminology
Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information
Demonstrated leadership abilities
Ability to lead both independently and collaboratively within a team, with minimal supervision
Ability to grow and develop staff
Effective customer relationship management
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to interview, hire, and evaluate staff performance
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects, and assignments and prioritize to meet deadlines
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Problem-solving skills to reflect the level of responsibilities
Strong attention to detail and accuracy required
Demonstrated work ethic and willingness to work extended hours when necessary
Occasional overnight travel required (Average1-3 times per year)
