The UCI Center for Educational Partnerships (CFEP) in the UCI School of Education creates collaborations that support preparation for and success in higher education. Our focus is on equity and access for all students in order to achieve the University of California's goal of academic excellence. The Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) partnership grant from the U.S. Department of Education prepares middle school and high school students for college access and success. The seven-year GEAR UP project provides multiple academic activities and services for sixth and seventh-graders in Compton Unified School District that continue through high school and their freshman year in college. It also provides extensive professional development for teachers and counselors.
Under direction of higher-level K-14 Academic Preparation Specialist, works with assigned institutions and organizations to implement academic preparation programming of moderate scope. Maintains program visibility in schools. Maintains collaborative relationships with K-14 institutions and / or community entities. Maintains relationships with higher education institutions.

$24.71 - $24.71 (Hourly Rate) Expected Pay Range within the Full Salary Range $24.71 - $41.86 (Hourly Rate)
Required:
Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population, and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status. Knowledge and understanding of K-14 education. Knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives. Minimum three (3) years experience with federal GEAR UP/TRIO programs, or similar educational opportunity programs, for youth and families in under-resources communities Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts. Thorough knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements.
Special Conditions Required:
Possess valid California's driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for travel to assigned schools. Ability to speak fluently in Spanish and English.
