Job Summary
The Workday Cross-Functional Technical Lead manages the daily operations and the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the college's Workday enterprise system from a technical operations perspective. This spans the entire Workday lifecycle, including development, testing, implementation, enhancement updates, and production releases across all elements of the Workday system, including core Human Capital Management (HCM), Finance (FIN), and Student as well as any additional SKUs that have been licensed for Smith use and the interfaces with systems that depend on Workday for data exchange. The Workday Cross-Functional Technical Lead will provide support in several areas of Workday, including business process administration, security administration, reporting, testing, and quality assurance; will evaluate, design, and deploy solutions built on the existing platform to meet future business needs; and will implement configuration and deployment requirements for future Workday modules. The Workday Cross-Functional Technical Lead will coordinate with the Director, Workday Technical Operations, internal information technology and business office partners, and (where relevant) external consultants to ensure effective technical operations of the Workday enterprise ecosystem.

Essential Functions
Workday Service Delivery (47.5%):
Participate in all stages of project development related to Workday access: planning, analysis, design, configuring, coding, testing, and implementation
Perform assignments with effectively applied knowledge, appropriate attention to detail, and constructive problem solving
Perform application security for all Workday functional areas; create new security configurations, apply security maintenance, and troubleshoot issues for diverse business needs across all functionality
Maintain and follow an approval process for security changes based on managerial/functional leads by business areas
Identify and implement security enhancements and modifications to ensure consistent and appropriate access to data in all its forms
Contribute to best practices for account login and authentication policies across all tenants in coordination with network security
Participation in definition and development of audit policies for proactive review of transactional activity and sensitive data access
Help drive a continuous process improvement mindset across campus and champion the use of Workday to encourage industry best practices.
Work with constituents across functional areas (HCM, Finance, and Student) to streamline existing processes and help ensure they align with Workday program goals and objectives.
Assist the Smith Workday team in ensuring stable and consistent functionality of the Workday tenant.
Ensure necessary testing is successfully completed for all changes and that any issues which arise are properly captured and resolved.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
Proactively monitor Workday feature release and weekly patch documentation.
Collaborate with Workday stakeholders in functional areas to recommend features for uptake and deploy new features to continuously improve the Workday platform.
Support activities around semi-annual feature releases and the implementation of additional Workday modules and functionality.
Proactively and continuously pursue professional development and training.
Workday Cross-Functional Development (47.5%)
Expand experiences to strengthen skills as a reliable resource for cross-functional knowledge within the Workday ecosystem and related business areas
Build partnerships with departmental staff while gaining exposure and depth to business processing to offer guidance and solutions applicable to the Workday functionality effectively
Participate in the ongoing design of the security model related to functional areas, integrations and vendor access as the organization matures
Configure and modify Workday cross-functional applications as required based on functional design and business decisions.
Support consultation around the creation, maintenance, and scheduling of Workday reports.
Develops Workday reports in partnership with functional areas
Consults with internal and external technical partners on developing and improving integrations.

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)
Education/experience: Incumbents will generally have a Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of professional experience, preferably in higher education.
Experience with Workday HCM, FIN, or STUDENT is strongly preferred. Will consider an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Skills
Demonstrated track record focusing on user experience and effective service outcomes. Ability to listen effectively, calibrate appropriately, and identify critical paths quickly. Strong aptitude for learning new tools and technologies. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to talk about complex technical concepts and functionalities with non-technical audiences. Ability to learn new tools quickly and effectively, with an eye to their use in a broader context and not just for specific purposes. Ability to work effectively through influence. Ability to review and analyze business processes and suggest appropriate improvements where relevant. Ability to function effectively as part of a distributed team, working effectively as an individual contributor and as a team member.
