About the College of Veterinary Medicine's Department of Biomedical Sciences
The Opportunity
The Educational Program Coordinator and Grant Assistant position supports various functions within the department including:
- Course Administrator for the Undergraduate Program of Study of Animal Physiology:
- Management of the undergraduate Program of Study (POS) of Animal Physiology and related courses, including acting as a liaison to the Office of the University Registrar, the Office of Undergraduate Biology, and other individuals involved in coordinating the logistics of the program's course offerings and student enrollment.
- Coordinate the program's offerings in the yearly Courses of Study and Course Roster listings, assigning students to faculty advisors, manage both the Animal Physiology Honor's Program and Biomedical Science Minor Program.
- Manage teaching materials, grading processes, feedback mechanisms.
- Grant/Pre-Award Management:
- Under the direction of the departmental Grant and Contract Coordinator, prepare grant submissions to a wide variety of funding agencies.
- Collaborate with a wide number of internal and external contacts including the BMS financial team, CVM College Research Office (CRO), Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP); other Grant Coordinators across all Cornell campuses including Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM), and personnel from other institutions to successfully complete assigned proposals.
- General Administrative Support to Faculty Members and Other Staff:
- Provide a wide variety of complex administrative support for the teaching/research activities of various faculty members.
- Coordinator for the BMS seminar series:
- Coordinate seminar series which may occur in person or virtually, including hosting speakers, travel arrangements, itinerary development, catering, advertising and web page content.
- Support for the Center for Vertebrate Genomics (CVG):
- Coordinate scheduling for the monthly Scholar lunch, Verge and Journal Club events including arranging speakers, facilities, advertising, event registration, and catering when needed.
Core work hours for this position are performed Monday through Friday, 3 days on campus in the Veterinary Research Tower, 2 days remote. Your start and end times for each day, and days you will be remote and on campus, will be mutually determined between you and your supervisor with a goal of determining a consistent schedule. Employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours, including occasional holidays, evenings, and weekends.

- Associate's degree with 4-6 years of administrative experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with a variety of both Cornell University and outside systems including Workday, Endnote, KFS, OBIEE dashboards, grants.gov, ASSIST, ProposalCentral, Drupal, PubMed, RAD, RASS, Acalog, CCI, DUST, PeopleSoft, Remark, Canvas, Chatter, SharePoint, CALS Online Course Proposal System, Concur, the Vet room scheduler, and 25Live.
- Experience with administering course offerings and student enrollment, as well as demonstrated interest and experience working in a highly interactive student office.
- Proficiency/excellence in using a variety of computer, software, and web-based programs with demonstrated ability to utilize them.
Rewards and Benefits
- This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Employees typically perform this role remotely 2 days per week and on-campus 3 days per week. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.
