What Sr. FinOps Engineer contributes to Cardinal Health Sr. FinOps engineer is a blend of Sr. Cloud engineer and Advance Analytics Specialist that analyzes, plans, and delivers solutions to optimize cloud cost and allows leaders to make decisions to get the most value of our cloud usage.
As a Sr. Cloud Engineer essential duties will include:
Engineering, automating, and orchestrating system provisioning and maintenance processes using modern cloud tools and technologies.
As an Advanced Analytics Specialist essential duties will include:
Developing and enhancing innovative analytical tools and products, developing and commercializing complex analytical approaches for client engagements, supporting training and mentoring/coaching technical/non-technical colleagues.
Sr. FinOps Engineer analyzes the financial, operational, and technical feasibility of adopting external cloud-based IT software and infrastructure services. Enables visualization of data to help drive cost savings. Optimizes work through automation. Maintains roadmaps to modernize FinOps tools and technologies. Works with vendors, build business cases and integrate solutions that adhere to engineering best practices.
Responsibilities
Provide expert knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies and develops automation solutions (e.g., rightsizing, power scheduling, etc.)
Create and edit visual content including maps, charts, and graphs.
Adhere to security and governance guidelines
Collaborate with Engineering teams to implement solutions
Perform special projects or tasks in a timely manner
Promote FinOps best practices and concepts
Implement policies and procedures
Ability to establish IT cost management strategies, models, processes, and tools
Act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues
Qualifications
Knowledge of IT infrastructure and public cloud concepts with an understanding of containers (GCP/AWS/Azure cloud experience)
Experience with native and 3rd party Public Cloud cost management & advisory tools (GCP Billing, GCP BigQuery, GCP Recommender, AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Trusted Advisor)
Advanced experience in statistical analysis and modeling, proficient using SQL, BigQuery, Excel, Python programming (GitHub experience to push code), and data visualization tools (DataStudio, PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
Experience in transforming data sets, quantitative and qualitative analysis into compelling visuals.
Understanding of Public Cloud pricing schemes
Understanding of cloud billing practices and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications / Certifications
5+ years of demonstrated experience and knowledge in public cloud
5+ years of professional experience in advanced data modeling, data analysis, data mining, statistical analysis and machine learning
5+ years of experiences in software engineering and programming
Certification in GCP or AWS
FinOps Certified Practitioner
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance or equivalent degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
