The Picker Engineering Program at Smith College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin July 1, 2024. We seek someone with an engineering background with the ability to teach in multiple areas within our curriculum, to involve undergraduate students in their research, and to engage with diverse students across the liberal arts. The teaching load is two courses per semester, with additional responsibilities for major and honors advising. The successful candidate will be expected to teach one or more of our required courses in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, or statics. They will also contribute to our curriculum by teaching upper-level elective courses in their area of expertise and/or our introductory or capstone design courses. Smith College is a research college, and it is expected that the successful candidate will maintain an active research program. A Ph.D. in engineering or a closely related discipline is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in engineering are encouraged to apply.
