The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate the ability to assist students with doctoral dissertation development, editing and research construction. This candidate will support faculty teaching Professional Development Colloquium I and II introducing and supporting fundamental research design and writing. strategies. The candidate will work closely with doctoral students throughout their doctoral program as a writing coach and advisor.
A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.
The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.
May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university's additional locations, as assigned.
The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.
All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement).
This position will supervise/advise graduate students.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate courses in Educational Leadership.
Doctorate or terminal degree in Educational Leadership or related area. (If ABD, degree must be conferred on an official transcript and received in Human Resources by August 19, 2024.)
Master's degree and/or relevant tested experience in areas related to writing, composition or education leadership. (conferred on an official transcript and received in Human Resources by August 19, 2024)
A minimum of two years experience with student dissertation support through development, coaching, editing and completion.
Evidence of advanced writing abilities and exceptional knowledge of APA & other writing styles.
Evidence of the ability to work positively and collaboratively with faculty advisors and students to support students through to dissertation completion.
Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Evidence of strategic support for students and with unique dissertation writing challenges, i.e. English Language Learners.
Demonstrated preparation to teach, advise, and support a wide variety of students, using effective written, oral communication, and/or presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to teach the courses listed below, along with additional courses depending on the department's needs: Professional Development Colloquium 1&2 (dissertation writing courses).
Experience with advising and mentoring students.
Demonstrated ability to initiate and sustain an active research agenda and commitment to professional development.
Evidence of scholarly activity, including publications and/or professional presentations.
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
The Department of Educational Leadership at Minnesota State University, Mankato invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate may teach graduate courses across department programs (EdD and MS) through the lens of racial equity and social justice.
