The Senior Staff Scientist takes a lead role in designing and performing experiments to investigate the mechanisms of Chromatin regulation and RNA splicing in human neurons, including, bioinformatics analysis of transcriptomic and epigenomic data, and splicing mechanisms in autism spectrum disorders. The Senior Staff Scientist applies extensive scientific and management methodologies specific to the laboratory with scientific vigor, advancing research efforts and minimizing research development risks with regard to quality, timelines, and funding. The Senior Staff Scientist will use state of the art technologies like: bulk transcriptomic (RNAseq), epigenomic (CUT&TAG and CUT&RUN) and single cell (Sc) OMICs (ScRNA-seq and ScATAC-seq) and MultiElectrode Array studies. In addition, the Senior Staff Scientist will contribute to scientific publications by writing and editing articles, preparing quality figures and analyzing data.
The Senior Staff Scientist will also provide technical training, guidance and project support to research assistants, grad students, postdocs and other lab personnel.
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of one year from the start of hire, which may be extended based upon available funding.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required: Masterâ™s degree required (Ph.D. preferred) in molecular biology, cell biology, or related field
5 yearsâ™ experience, extensive post-Ph.D. experience preferred or, equivalent combination of education and experience
Laboratory experience including lab techniques in H3K36 methylation and stem cell experience
Stem cell biology, neuronal differentiation and Bioinformatics experience (Preferred)
Supervisory experience (Preferred)
