This position provides the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of middle and high school students and support their social, emotional, and academic growth.
JOB DUTIES:
Observes students in classrooms and provides feedback to teacher and student about methods that may assist the student in improving their classroom performance
Responsible for administering transition activities to support IEP development and the College and Career Planning Center
Researches and implements evidence-based prevention programming for the student body based on the needs of the school community as determined by the school’s administration
Attends weekly Student Support Team meetings and updates students' confidential Sharepoint to ensure accuracy
Maintains confidentiality of information learned about students and shares appropriate information with school staff as needed
Communicates with staff, parents, and community support providers about the needs of students clearly and consistently
Provides time-limited counseling support to students, while collaborating with parents to secure longer term community-based services
Attends important school events, including staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, orientation, First Bell, commencement, Convocation, etc.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
Master’s degree in School Counseling required; Ohio Pupil Services Licensure in School Counseling required
3-5 years of experience as a School Counselor required; Significant experience in managing student social and psychological concerns required
Must possess significant knowledge of various methods and programs through which student psychological wellness can be achieved
Experience leading transition activities and using the results to identify student needs
Strong written, verbal, organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail/accuracy, timely implementation, and quality performance
SCHEDULE:
This is a 10-month position that follows the academic calendar with occasional evening and weekend hours.
Monday: 8:15 - 5 p.m.
Tuesday-Friday: 8:15 - 3:45 p..m.
