Detailed Job Description

• Meet with and provide indicated prevention and/or intervention services to Deaf/HH students and individuals from the greater Rochester community
• Complete projects/tasks/activities as outlined in the annual OASAS WorkPlan
• Provide group and one on one counseling to clients at Norris Clinic
• Maintain communication with campus partners and community service providers in order to coordinate services
• Maintain log of all related activities for statistical reporting to funders
• Design and produce educational materials matching language skills of the people we serve
• Participate in community and campus events promoting prevention strategies and information
• Other duties as assigned

Department/College Description
Substance and Addiction Intervention Services for the Deaf (SAISD) provides alcohol, tobacco and other-drug (ATOD) information/referral, prevention education, intervention, cross-disability professional, consultation and training/support to treatment services. SAISD is a part of the Department of Student and Academic Services at National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology. SAISD has been a part of NTID/RIT since 1979.

Minimum Qualifications

• BSW or BA/BS in Education, Counseling or related human services field
• ASL fluency or comfortable conversational ASL skills, knowledge of Deaf culture
