Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments within the UCSD School of Medicine with comprehensive clinical programs, extensive basic science and clinical research, and diverse educational opportunities for students, residents and fellows. Incumbent works as a Research Data Analyst to perform standard, moderately complex statistical computations for investigators in the Division of Environmental Health in the Department of Pediatrics. The incumbent prepares statistical tables for periodic and special reports; consults regarding study design for studies of moderate statistical complexity and scope; provides assistance to students in the Division on statistical issues of moderate complexity; and contributes to manuscript and grant proposal development for studies requiring moderately complex statistical methods. The incumbent also provides input into data management and data audit procedures for multiple projects in the Division.
Works on research data reporting assignments that are of moderate diversity in scope. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training.
Working knowledge of research function. Theoretical knowledge of statistics or related field at the collegiate level.
Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design and data security measures. Demonstrated experience performing moderately complex statistical programming.
Working skills in analysis and consultation. Demonstrated working experience with statistical methods and models incorporating a broad range of variable types and traditional and modern statistical approaches.
Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of people from faculty investigators to support staff throughout the institution.
Excellent time management skills. Demonstrated skill in prioritizing multiple responsibilities and tasks. Excellent organization skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of statistical computer packages. Demonstrated knowledge of Windows PC's and familiarity with MAC platform. Demonstrated knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, and relational database concepts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of relational database concepts, programming, and SQL language.
Experience designing, implementing, maintaining and using large and complex databases.
Ability to recommend plans for research design.
Masters degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
