Job Summary:
Direct and coordinate operational activities in support of Music, Theatre, and Dance admission with a focus on Music admissions. Lead extensive recruitment efforts, including directing and developing strategic touring plan for student and faculty ensemble tours, manage the online audition and application processes, the pre-screeningprocess, and coordinate and direct the audition and interview sessions. Provide exceptional service to prospective families and their students throughout the application process. Serve as liaison and coordinate admission functions with the College's Office of Admission, Office of Student Financial Services and the Office of International Programs. Mange processes for determining merit and talent scholarships for Center for Music applicants. Direct and manage the operations for the School of Music, Theatre and Dance preparatory and summer programs such as the Ithaca College Summer Music Academy and Summer Piano Institute.
Supervision: Reports to the Associate Dean of School of Music, Theatre and Dance
Essential Duties:
Manage the admissions process for the School of Music, Theatre and Dance with a focus on music admissions, working collaboratively with the Associate Director of Music, Theatre and Dance Admissions and the Ithaca College Office of Admission to implement admission policies, procedures, and practices.
Maintain awareness of national college and music admission guidelines, ethics, and practices, especially towards increasing pools of students from minoritized populations, and disseminate information to faculty related to auditions requirements and protocols; Work with the Dean and faculty to develop yearly recruitment goals and strategies.
Organize and coordinate campus visit programs for prospective music students. Supervise student workers to coordinate daily tours within the Center for Music for prospective music students. Conduct tours and informational sessions as needed. Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising work-study students.
Identify and develop opportunities for a broader geographical range for high school visits, coordinate and participate in recruitment visits, performing arts programs, college fairs, and summer camps; research possible sites and arrange for all details of travel
Develop and implement in collaboration with the Dean and the Office of Admission the admission yield effort. Direct and motivate staff, faculty, and current music students to participate in an extensive follow-up campaign. Manage the Dean's Host overnight yield program.
Participate in college-wide admission and yield programs, including Open Houses, Ithaca and You, and Ithaca Today.
Attend off-campus exhibit booth showcases and provide a presentation to interested students and parents.
Direct on and off-campus audition days to include scheduling performance ensembles, auditions with faculty, and information sessions. Serve as event organizer, emcee, and point of contact to all those participating.
Evaluate and advise prospective students regarding the admission and financial aid processes in the Center for Music. Using faculty audition assessments and other applicant materials, evaluate and make recommendations for admission.
Maintain, in collabration with the Associate Director of MTD Admissions, all MTD records used in auditions; compile and maintain reports regarding current enrollment figures and projection for enrollment; maintain file of current copies of various advertising sources. Compile and analyze new data and make recommendations as needed to assist in the admission effort.
Collaborate on allocation of merit and talent scholarships for School of Music, Theatre, and Dance applicants. Provide recommendations to the Office of Student Financial Services regarding Premier Talent Scholarships for incoming students. Work with accepted students and their families in the negotiation of financial aid.
Manage an admission travel budget, and represent the college at national and international recruiting events and professional conferences. Plan, organize, and attend professional conferences where the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance will place exhibits. Make arrangements for travel; handle all correspondence pertaining to same.
Direct the Ithaca College Summer Music Academy ensuring delivery of opportunities for students of music to have access to instruction that will prepare them for study at the college level. Recruit, interview, hire, and supervise faculty, guest lecturers, staff and counselors; coordinate the development, implementation and delivery of program activities to include curriculum, enrollment, housing, orientation and facilities logistics.
Collaborate with the Dean and Marketing Communications Manager to coordinate a national and international marketing campaign. Advise on print and online advertising campaigns, photo shoots, video shoots, and print collateral. Ensure College branding standards are adhered to while maintaining the identity of the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance.
Assist in coordinating school-sponsored recruiting tours for student and faculty performing; travel on occasion as necessary. Manage a student and faculty touring budget.
Meet with the Dean, Associate Dean, and Department Chairs on a regular basis to discuss a full range of School of Music, Theatre, and Dance policy issues. Present updates at Center for Music meetings regarding music admission, preparatory, and international programs. Serve on appropriate School and College committees
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years’ experience in admissions and/or student recruitment; background in music is essential; excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communications skills; ability to speak confidently and compellingly to large groups and handle highly confidential material, work independently and as a team member in a complex, professional, and active student environment are required.
Work Environment:
This position will work both on campus and travel up to 15-25% of the time. Required to provide tours and lead large groups of people.

Starting at $60,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
