Department OverviewThe Registered Nurse (RN) working as a member of an inter-disciplinary team is integral to Clinical Transplant Services. The RN functions as a liaison between the patients and staff members of the transplant team (physicians, social worker, financial counselor, psychiatrists, etc.) and has the primary responsibility for providing direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients. Once the patient is transplanted the RN is responsible for the post-transplant call-in follow-up, attending discharge rounds, transplant specific discharge education, and coordinating discharge needs with the interdisciplinary team.
