ABOUT THE POSITION
The Student Life Coordinator will enter the Division at a time of growth and creative energy under the Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Affairs (EMSA). The Enrollment Management & Student Affairs Division is an innovative, team-oriented division that provides integrated, student-centered educational activities that empower students to lead engaged socially responsible lives. Operating in a commuter, urban environment, John Jay students are affected by many external factors. This drives us to provide as many high-touch interactions as efficiently as possible while following best practices in the student affairs field.
The Center for Student Involvement & Leadership (CSIL) is a part of the Enrollment
Management & Student Affairs Division. The Division provides an array of intellectual and experiential opportunities for students to become engaged citizens through its various departments which support student organizations; social events; athletics; theatrical productions; community and service learning opportunities, as well as student support services that enhance their collegiate experience. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership and works in the evening. The normal work hours are from 2 pm to 10 pm. While on a remote work schedule this person is currently working 10am to 6pm. The Center for Student Involvement & Leadership Coordinator will perform the following duties in addition to the responsibilities listed in the CUNY Title Overview:
-Work with student leaders and organizations to develop and implement programs and activities of student interest, with a foundation in learning outcomes.
- Advises and directs student organization leaders regarding event planning, purchasing, ordering, travel, and other logistics of student organization business.
- Assist and provide guidance to student organization leaders in terms of budget creation; manage expenditures while creating a sound organizational structure.
- Review and sign off on all student organization paperwork for speakers, entertainers, marketing and promotion items and supplies, etc.
- Assist student organization members in understanding procedures including, but not limited to travel policy, marketing, space reservation, Student Activities Association paperwork, budget submission, provision of food and beverage policy, and V.I.P guest???s policy.
- Assist with the planning and organization of CSIL events including but not limited to Spring Fest, John Jay???s Got Talent, L.I.D.S., and Celebratory events.
- Assist with the updating of the CSIL webpage including student organizations and student council and serve as the primary social media contact for CSIL.
- Provide supervision to evening student activities and events; register, approve, and provide services and consultation to student organization members and advisors.
- Support the goals and objectives of CSIL within the needs of the John Jay community and provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
- Some weekends are required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required.

- Two (2) years??? experience preferred.
- Proficient administrative skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.

- Assists with the management of student affairs facilities, such as acquiring equipment and arranging event logistics
- May assume responsibility for one or more specific student programs
- Performs related duties as assigned.
