POSITION SUMMARY
The Hewitt School seeks a full time middle school psychologist for the 2023-2024 academic year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop relationships with students in grades 5-8 to ensure mental health and well-being for all children in the middle school
Observe students in classes in consultation with teachers and offer specific strategies to support classroom behavior and well-being
Provide informal professional guidance to faculty to best support the social-emotional learning of students
Work with a subset of students to provide 1:1 support (for academic, social, or emotional guidance)
Partner with the head of middle school to review neuropsychological examinations and design support plans
Facilitate crisis response work with students and their families as well as with faculty
Make referrals to outside professionals for students needing therapy or other forms of support or assessment
Support teachers and division heads in cases of discipline and response
Facilitate middle school Tapestry Circle, an affinity space for students from varied family structures
Collaborate with the school nurse, learning specialists, and division head to ensure student health, wellness, and safety
Design and lead parent education on mental health
Teach health classes
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Demonstrated commitment to anti-bias education and social justice
Psy.D. or Ph.D. in psychology or related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a school setting

Culturally responsive approach to teaching
Fluency in multiple student-centered instructional approaches
Proficient with Mac platforms; comfortable with technology or demonstrated ability to learn quickly

SALARY RANGE
Starting Salary Range: $75,000 to $105,000 (salary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and expertise)
