The Assistant Dean of Strategic Communications is responsible for articulating the mission of Princeton University and conveying its policies and procedures to applicants, parents, school and CBO counselors, alumni and University personnel; providing group presentations at high schools and college nights, as well as conducting on-campus information sessions. The Assistant Dean will also be responsible for reading, evaluating and summarizing applications for admission, handling correspondence and phone inquiries.
Specifically, the Assistant Dean of Strategic Communications will serve as support to the Associate Dean for Strategic Communications in developing all outward facing and internal communications for the department. The Assistant Dean will lead short- and long-form video production for website, YouTube and social media and serve as a liaison between the university and vendors.
Responsibilities
Make public presentations about Princeton University's undergraduate academic and extracurricular programs and resources and admission and financial aid policies and procedures to a variety of audiences both on and off campus. This will include approximately 4-5 weeks of travel, primarily in the fall.
Read, evaluate and summarize applications for admission and participate in selection committee while maintaining confidentiality and a high level of professionalism.
As part of the Strategic Communications team, lead short- and long-form video production for website, YouTube and social media and serve as a liaison between the university and vendors.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Four to six years of admission experience
Excellent writing and public speaking skills
Ability to relate positively to a variety of interests, backgrounds and points of view by using tact, diplomacy and discretion
Ability to exercise good judgement while working collegially in a high pressure, deadline-driven environment
Familiarity with and a willingness to learn technology and data drive systems
Willingness to learn and to accept constructive feedback
Experience with website development
Resourcefulness, initiative and motivation
Excellent organizational and time management skills
