Reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost for University Admissions, The Director of Outreach & Recruitment in Undergraduate Admissions develops data-informed strategic recruitment plans in collaboration with the AVP, designed to recruit and enroll academically talented and diverse new undergraduate students. Directs the goals, strategy, and quality of service for the Undergraduate Admissions Outreach and Recruitment staff including but not limited to domestic and international territory management, freshman and transfer recruitment, admissions visit and event programs, and student engagement. Provides leadership to the team and strategy responsible for first-year domestic (resident and non-resident), transfer and international undergraduate student recruitment. Plans, develops, directs daily outreach and recruitment operations, serves as the lead liaison with regional campus enrollment directors, oversees and directs strategy for on and off campus visits and events, coordinates overall strategy for communication and development of school counselor/community-based organization colleagues, ensures strong customer service throughout the outreach and recruitment functions. Serves as the primary liaison with Strategic Marketing and Communications to develop and deliver print, electronic, web site and social media communications. Collaborates with Academic and Diversity Strategies to develop outreach and recruitment plans for diverse and academically talented students. Represents Ohio State and presents to large and small groups at on and off campus event locations.
Hires, trains, and evaluates staff; conducts professional development and oversees Outreach & Recruitment staff retention and is responsible for professional development and staff retention for a team of 31 staff and 150 student employees; directly supervise four associate directors. Supports, models, and demonstrates a commitment to diversity and inclusion among staff, students, and stakeholders. Oversees and approves operational and personnel expenditures. Employs (and holds all managers responsible for employing) a comprehensive performance management process; directs administration of operations, programs, and personnel budget in an environment of cost-effectiveness.
Oversees prospect and inquiry pool development and student search strategy, directs collaboration with Buckeye Link for strategy in messaging, communication, and admissions counselor scheduling, collaborates on marketing and communications strategy and implementation, coordinates with Analysis & Reporting on the integration and development of Empowering Market Analysis (EMA), Salesforce (CRM), Blackthorn (campus visit reservation system) and other admissions technology systems. Serves on the Assistant Vice Provost/Executive Directors senior leadership team, manages communication to students, parents, alumni, and stakeholder in collaboration with the Office of the President, drafts and sends communications to students and parents/family members requesting appeals, oversees application and acceptance fee exception processes, represents the office in place of the Assistant Vice Provost/Executive Director, represents Ohio State at statewide and national meetings and presentations, uses independent judgement to manage and impart confidential information. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in undergraduate admissions, financial aid or enrollment management required. Extensive experience and success in a managerial and/or supervisory capacity; demonstrated excellent writing and communication skills; demonstrated ability to work in a flexible and diverse organization; excellent program planning and implementation skills; knowledge of current best practices in recruitment and enrollment management; experience with current recruitment technologies; demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion; excellent public speaking, oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, skilled in data interpretation, compilation and report presentation; knowledge of critical issues in higher education access and recruitment.
Desired:
Master's degree, Familiarity with Peoplesoft, Salesforce, and OnBase, 15+ years of relevant experience preferred

The pay range for this job profile is $99,000 - $133,000 (min - mid). The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
