For more than a century, Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton (SHS) has carried out the mission of our founder St. Madeleine Sophie Barat—educating generations of students toward meaningful lives, characterized by active leadership, clear purpose, and compassionate service. From preschool through high school, our SHS curriculum emphasizes development of the "whole child," integrating faith and reason to guide self-discovery and character formation, contextualize intellectual, artistic, and athletic pursuits, and instill an active awareness and drive for social justice.
Today, SHS is a vibrant, thriving, and dynamic institution, committed to the teachings of a Christ-centered community, in which the unique needs of each student are nurtured by a world-class faculty and staff. The diversity of our Sacred Heart community reflects the San Francisco Bay Area and provides a rich environment in which young people learn to appreciate the value of human differences. Above all, our rigorous, mission-driven curricular and co-curricular programs challenge students to think critically, to be bold in service to others, to capitalize on their strengths, and to acknowledge and address realistic limit...ations. These are the hallmarks of the SHS experience, and the core of our Sacred Heart spirit. Welcome.
