St. Anne’s-Belfield School seeks a full-time choral teacher, advisor, and K-12 performing arts department chair. A department chair is a visionary leader skilled in articulating the key skills and essential knowledge of the academic discipline within the departmental philosophy and the core values of the School and providing support and targeted feedback to teachers.
The Upper School Director of Choral Music at St. Anne’s-Belfield School is a dynamic and broadly involved music educator, serving the Upper School community in and beyond the classroom. The Upper School Director of Choral Music is a teacher of music classes that range from introductory to advanced levels of vocal performance (Concert Choir and (Honors) Saints Chorale) and classes in music theory and/or music history. The Upper School Director of Choral Music will employ a variety of teaching techniques and methods to reach and support a diversity of learners and learning styles and be committed to helping students build confidence and expertise through the successful exploration of music. The exact number of classes and students the director teaches naturally will vary year by year based on student interest in the program. A typical schedule for the director includes 2 choral classes and 1-2 music theory or history classes. The AP music theory course is not always offered annually; course registration that yields fewer than 8 students will be reviewed by administration.
In addition to the aforementioned teaching duties, the Upper School Director of Choral Music serves as the musical coordinator for weekly Chapel services, the musical director of the winter musical production, the faculty leader of the two a cappella clubs and the organizer of A Cappella Fest, an annual event that features St. Anne’s-Belfield School’s a cappella groups and those from neighboring schools, including those from higher ed.
