The Assistant Dean for Finance & Administration manages the operations, financial planning and fiscal activities of the Maseeh College. This is a 12-month, fixed term appointment, unranked, unclassified, and excluded from the bargaining unit. It reports directly to the Dean.
Position duties include:
Financial
Analyze and monitor College-related budgets and advise the college leadership on budget status and use of funds throughout the fiscal year.
Provide leadership and analysis for ensuring effective and strategic resource development and allocation.
Provide collaborative leadership to develop and implement the long and short-term financial strategies of MCECS, which are the financial components of the college strategic plan.
Be responsible for the smooth flow of financial transactions throughout the college as well as complying with university fiscal year-end goals.
Serve as fiscal liaison with central administration, University business office, other campus administrators, department chairs, directors, faculty, staff, and students.
Operations
Responsible for the implementation and improvement of the various systems that allow the College to operate efficiently and effectively.
Serve as a key member of Maseeh College leadership team.
In collaboration with the Facilities manager oversee college building maintenance and projects.
Work closely with department chairs and administrative staff to review financial and operational status and to plan and organize departmental priorities in alignment with overall College goals.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and controls necessary to carry out operations of the College.
Research, compile, and analyze data for initiatives/projects/reports as needed.
Personnel Management
Supervise and train classified, academic professional and student employees in the Dean's office.
Assign and assess the quality of work of assigned staff.
Evaluate employee performance and take corrective action if necessary.
Recruit and hire new staff as needed.
Facilitate ongoing training and professional development opportunities of departmental and other appropriate staff.
Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Research to ensure SPA related functions meet expectations.
Ensure HR policies and procedures are followed and provide guidance regarding HR issues or concerns.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Utilize best practices and an awareness of institutional barriers, systemic inequities and unconscious bias to make recommendations for updating Maseeh college policies, processes and programs in relation to student recruitment/retention and faculty and staff workplace culture.
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree and 3 or more years of related experience required.
Ability to develop complete sets of fiscal and operational recommendations based on careful analysis of available information.
Capacity to recognize essential elements of a problem and provide solutions.
Experience in initiating and directing strategic organizational operations and managing fiscal activities.
Practice in managing internal systems.
Experience organizing resources such as facilities and employees so as to ensure effective and efficient operations.
Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse clientele including internal college employees, university colleagues and leadership, and external constituents such as community partners, public officials and funding agencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with PSU enterprise systems.
3 or more years working in a higher education environment
