Immediate - Director of Lower School Admission, Full-Time, 12 month, Exempt
Summary: Sandy Spring Friends School is seeking a dynamic team member to join the Admissions team as Pre-Primary and Lower School Admissions Associate. The ideal candidate will drive and facilitate the admission process for all Lower School applicants; provide excitement and expertise in outreach, recruitment, and cultivation of our new pre-primary program; and will have knowledge of licensure of pre-school classes in a school setting. Familiarity with independent schools and the greater Olney area is highly desirable. Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings is required. SSFS seeks candidates who value the importance of diversity and can share, teach, and appreciate differing points of view.
Responsibilities include:
Oversee Lower School Admission including recruiting prospective families, coordinating visits for student applicants (PK3-5th grade), conducting parent interviews, and attending recruitment and outreach events.
Establishing, cultivating, and strengthening relationships with admission contacts (feeder schools, educational consultants, etc.) and parenting communities in the greater Olney region. This will require evening and weekend commitments.
Providing information to prospective families about SSFS via phone, person-to-person meetings, and campus tours.
Conducting all Lower School parent interviews and writing interview reports/submitting applicant data sheets.
Organizing, facilitating, scheduling, and observing applicants for pre-primary and primary grade play groups or school day visits.
Monitoring re-enrollment of current students with attention to attrition and retention rate; providing feedback and data for admissions marketing team.
Assisting with the implementation of re-enrollment and retention efforts, including contacting parents, teachers, and advisors and monitoring re-enrollment of current students with attention to attrition and retention rate.
Recruiting, cultivating, and training parent volunteers to be parent ambassadors of the school.

Education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience in recruitment practices

Physical Requirements: Daily desk work including extensive amounts of computer and phone time as well as the ability to navigate stairs, mobility around a large campus with uneven pavement, bending and squatting, lifting/carrying boxes weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to rearrange furniture for events is occasionally required.
