Job Description: What We Are Looking For
Baylor University is seeking an Assistant Director for Service to support the mission of the university by shaping Baylor's faithful engagement with Waco and the world by developing programs and ministries that educate, form, and equip Baylor students for service in our local community. The Assistant Director for Service nurtures an environment of and opportunities for service in and to the Waco community.
A Bachelor's degree, three years of relevant work experience, and a Christian faith are required. A Master's degree and five years of relevant work experience are preferred.
*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on full-time basis.
What You Will Do
Provide formative programming that is centered in understanding current social issues and challenges and that develops practices and skills which prepare students for effective, just, and loving service
Work closely with chapel leadership to develop and lead a chapel experience to accomplish the formation referenced above
Build and maintain relationships with community and campus partners as an essential, strategic element of Baylor's student service model. Partnerships include: churches, non-profits, schools, academic units, and student organizations and advisors
Serve as a liaison to academic colleagues who are developing service learning for course work
Train and mentor student service leaders and others participating various service experiences
Insure appropriate risk management for all service opportunities
Function as a chaplain on the Spiritual Life staff, ministering with this team to the needs of the Baylor community, such as; being available for pastoral care, mentoring, teaching, worship leadership, and speaking with various university constituencies
Contribute to the collective work of the Department, Spiritual Life and Student Life
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
Ability to comply with university policies
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
