The Department of Integrative Biology, home of the Biology and Zoology majors, is seeking an Academic Advisor. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
This position will perform academic advising and program support for pre-health (medical, dental and others), plus genetics and physiology and behavior option Biology majors in the Department of Integrative Biology, home to Biology and Zoology majors. This position will also participate in School of Life Sciences and College of Science recruitment and retention efforts and represent the College of Science at recruitment events. In the Integrative Biology Department, academic advisors typically work with students during their entire life cycle at OSU, supporting decision making about coursework and career development. Some evening and weekend work may be required. In-state and out-of-state travel may be required.
The Department of Integrative Biology is part of the School of Life Sciences and receives support for its academic program from the College of Science. The Department of Integrative Biology supports two large Corvallis Campus majors, Biology and Zoology, and an Ecampus Zoology degree. The department has developed an internationally recognized graduate program in conservation, evolutionary biology and marine ecology with faculty working in these areas at the level of the cell, organism and community.

Typically requires Bachelors Degree in field related to work assigned.
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in a life science field or a Bachelor's degree from any field plus a combination of two years of life science related college course work or relevant professional life science experience.
One year of experience in academic advising, or student activities programming, or teaching/counseling of post-secondary individuals, including experience with at least one aspect of leadership, teamwork, organized planning, and problem-solving.
Experience and demonstrated actions working with and successfully supporting diverse populations coming from historically excluded populations, such as racial and ethnic, gender diverse, minoritized sexual identities, abilities, disability, veteran statuses, and socioeconomic levels.
Ability to communicate clearly with a diverse group of students and staff through written (electronic and other) and oral communication.
Ability to maintain confidential, detailed, and accurate student records.
Skilled in Microsoft Suite (or similar program)
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
