ACE (Accelerated Complete and Engage) program at York College is a comprehensive program designed to help students complete their academic journey to the bachelor???s degree on time. Modeled after CUNY???s Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP), ACE provides a range of financial, academic and personal supports, including intensive academic advisement and career counseling as well as tuition, textbook and transportation assistance.
The ACE Financial aid coordinator will provide comprehensive support to ACE staff and students. Reporting to the ACE Director, the ACE Financial aid coordinator will perform, but not be limited to, the following duties in addition to the CUNY title overview:
GENERAL DUTIES:
Serve as a liaison to work with ACE program staff on all student financial aid matters, run required reports to determine appropriate student financial aid actions and/or increase FAFSA and TAP application completion
Coordinate financial aid documents and assist students selected for verification in accordance with Federal, State and Institutional regulations governing student financial aid
Provide one on one counseling to ACE students and parents regarding the financial aid process, various financial aid and financing options available
Assist ACE program staff with new initiatives as well as provide financial literacy & financial aid workshops for ACE staff/students
Conduct campus-based ACE student financial aid orientations and attend and participate in workshops, ACE staff meetings, information sessions and trainings
Represent York at all CUNY ASAP|ACE Financial Aid meetings, councils and conferences
Assist with special projects and job-related duties as assigned
This position includes work during some evening and weekend hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required.
A minimum of two years related experience.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in a higher education setting highly preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs, procedures and regulations, strongly preferred.
Knowledge of ACE policies and procedures, and student financial aid challenges, preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access functions, and queries and proficiency working with large sums of data, preferred.
Exceptional organizational, writing, and oral communication skills.
Ability to work independently and part of a team are preferred.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Coordinates financial aid procedures and activities and provides financial aid information.
Schedules workshops, reviews applications, establishes pay cycles, disburses funds and resolves disbursement problems, and records awards, disbursements and returns
Coordinates, verifies and resolves problems regarding the disbursement of scholarships and grants by verifying student eligibility, establishing pay cycles and reviewing pay-outs
Reconciles accounting and disbursement schedules
Provides data for financial aid and donor reports as needed
Supports the College's enrollment management efforts by providing financial aid information to prospective students, their families and their high school counselors
Serves as liaison between the college and direct loan providers
Performs related duties as assigned.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.
If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
