Randolph School seeks a dynamic and engaging Choir Teacher with strong interpersonal skills for our Middle School Division (grades 5-8). The successful candidate will have experience leading a range of choral ensembles including developing young beginning students as well as more experienced singers. This teacher should have a broad range of music repertoire including but not limited to: cultural, classical, folk songs, jazz, pop, etc. Opportunities exist for collaboration with our Drama Department in the preparation of musical theatre productions. The teacher will be expected to provide the students with opportunities to participate in local, regional, and national vocal festivals.
The teacher will join a vibrant, experienced faculty and will be actively involved in the school’s full program which will include advising, sponsoring clubs, chaperoning field trips, being on faculty committees and attending school events.
The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following essential duties:
Conducting and developing the Middle School Concert Choir
Conducting and developing the 6th Grade Choir
Collaborating with other departmental colleagues to teach fifth grade music
Serving as an advisor for 10 to 12 middle school students
Creating a supporting and inclusive environment while developing respectful relationships with students by using conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques within the classroom
Monitoring and managing student learning using a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student progress
Partnering with grade level team members to address the needs of the whole-child
Demonstrating effective written and oral communication (parent conferences, written correspondence including narrative reports)
Sharing duties and responsibilities with other members of the faculty
Integrating technology appropriately in the classroom
This teacher will participate collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the Middle School and the school community in a manner that supports and promotes the Randolph School Mission.
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in vocal music or music education is required. A Master’s degree in music is preferred.
Previous experience in vocal ensembles as well as comfort serving as a piano accompanist is a plus.
