The Position

Cardigan Mountain School seeks an experienced and committed educator to teach mathematics for the 2023-2024­­­­ school year.  The teaching position is a full-time, 10-month position at Cardigan Mountain School, a boarding school for middle school boys in grades 6-9. The ideal candidate will be able to teach various middle school math courses, which may include elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, to pre-calculus. 

Specific Responsibilities

The Mathematics Teacher will:

• Teach 3-4 sections of middle school mathematics (Math 6 - Precalculus)
• Coach two athletic seasons or perform comparable non-athletic responsibilities
• Participate in our club's program
• Serve as an advisor to students
• Supervise a dormitory floor
• Demonstrate an appreciation for teaching and a passion for mathematics as a discipline

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• Previous teaching experience in a middle school environment preferred, but not required
• Demonstrated proficiency in subject area through previous coursework and/or experience
• Interest in and demonstrated skill in working with adolescent boys
• A shared commitment to an inclusive community, and respect for differences
• Ability to make contributions to School life across multiple facets of our program
• Willingness to embrace and engage in the active lifestyle of an independent boarding school
