Santa Fe Prep seeks a Director of Learning Services to support our program and seek strategic growth. This position reports directly to the Head of School and partners with the Assistant Head to deliver a mission-aligned support program.
This position is an opportunity to onboard a thought partner to build on the foundation we have built over the last twenty years. In addition, we look to enhance our work with outside tutors. This person will create a comprehensive student support and professional development program to train our faculty to work in shared planning, designing, and implementing phases of service (from suggested practice to accommodations). We also want someone who can work with a small group of students from time to time. There is room to think future-forward and imagine how to implement study skills programs and guidelines for working with students to build executive functioning.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Plan and implement program goals and objectives for the learning support program 7-12 while maintaining an awareness of laws, policies, and regulations in the State of New Mexico (as a reference point)
Apply current research and techniques to ensure all individuals with neurodiverse needs are appropriately identified, assessed, and provided an appropriate education at Santa Fe Prep
Develop and act as a liaison between relevant school programs, e.g., Admissions, College Counseling, DEIJ committee, and the College Board/ACT
Assist in developing policies and procedures related to student accommodation plans and disseminate information and represent the school in accommodations meetings, discussions, informal conferences, etc., to support our students with accommodations
Perform regular program reviews and recommends changes in program administration, methodology, curriculum, and/or procedures as necessary
Assign and schedule learning services personnel
Provide staff development for learning services, tutors, and Santa Fe Prep faculty
Serve as a custodian for records, analyze academic data, and maintain the confidentiality of information used in school-related meetings
Conduct small group and individual sessions for students with specific learning needs, and use strategies for students with and without neurodiversity
Meet regularly with students and parents to review learning goals and progress
Track individual student progress through classroom observations and assessments
Consult with the Director of Studies and faculty to educate them on how to differentiate curriculum and support so that the group of students is not heterogeneous
Develop and lead presentations for faculty on best teaching practices
Serve as a faculty advisor
Position Requirements:
Master’s degree or higher in Special Education or a relevant field
Minimum five years experience in K-12 special education and/or administration
Classroom experience is required
Knowledgeable and passionate about K-12 education and understanding of the developmental needs of children
Highly organized and efficient in time management
Excellent managerial skills and ability to collaborate within and among multiple teams
Superior skills in communication and technology, including outstanding writing and public speaking skills
Knowledge and understanding of the complexity of systems, especially within schools, and the ability to design for and within systems to maximize success toward intended outcomes
