Reporting to the Rady School of Management Director of Computing and Technology Services, the Rady Technical Project Manager is instrumental in establishing and evolving best practices for projects at the Rady School of Management. Many of the Rady School's strategic projects contain a substantial technology component, this position will help provide a central point of consistency and bridge the gap between the business owners/content expert and the technology implementation team. This role manages project relationships between the Rady project team, stakeholders, any required central campus units, and any third-party vendors.
This position will apply industry-standard project management concepts, frameworks, tools, and techniques in the leadership of both technology and operational improvement projects. Project size can vary from small single-person small-scope assignments to larger strategic projects that impact one or more of the Rady School's departments.
Working as a lead on cross-functional project teams, this position is responsible for all aspects of project management from project conception and initiation to closure. Under direction from the Director of Technology and Computing Services, this role prepares the proposal, captures the requirements, creates the project schedule, defines the project team, monitors the scope, and manages whatever additional resources, tasks, risks, and deliverables are needed to ensure a successful project outcome.
Both as part of pre-project proposal work, and any post-implementation monitoring this position will define, measure, evaluate relevant project KPIs to assess a proposed effort or evaluate a project post-delivery. In addition, this role is also responsible for training other Rady staff on the Rady School's project processes, tools, and techniques. These education efforts include the establishment and maintenance of schoolwide standards for project execution and formal and informal mentoring of other Rady Staff that are in a project management role.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working on project implementation and with stakeholders to lay out project objectives, timelines, and milestones for project management and monitoring.
Experience communicating project progression, milestones, and roadblocks; experience organizing and leading meetings, experience reporting on and explaining adjustments to project goals, expectations, budget, and timelines.
Experience leading user workshops to capture requirements: user experience, functional requirements, data modeling, and performance requirements.
Experience leading and educating the project team on processes. Experience responding to and resolving customer/client concerns.
Rapport building and team building skills. Collaboration skills.
Project planning and resource management skills. Prioritization and anticipatory planning skills. Knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts. Familiarity with the current standards outlined in PMIs PMBOK, as well as other project implementation methodologies and tools such as Agile, Scrum, and dedicated project management software.
Experience assessing requirements of new systems; determining changes to existing networks or applications. Using technical expertise and knowledge of Rady business systems and user needs, makes "buy or build" recommendations for each Rady operational departments. Experience analyzing evaluating and implementing vendor-supplied systems.
Effective organization and project management skills. Experience executing projects from the initiation phase through the closure. Experience soliciting and clarifying user needs, project goals, creating proposed timelines, deliverables, and budget; listening skills.
