We seek a passionate, committed full-time Middle School Dean of Students to begin July 1 , 2023. The Middle School Dean of Student Life is a member of the school’s administrative team and reports to the Head of School. This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position. The Middle School Dean of Student Life holds responsibility for the student culture in the middle school. The role also includes teaching one section each trimester (in the Dean’s area of expertise).
Essential Responsibilities
Student Life
Advance the school’s mission of fostering community among students.
Ensure the success of the school’s community life program.
Coordinate weekly student community meetings.
Take leadership of matters related to middle school student discipline and follow-through related with correspondence and record-keeping.
Promote the school’s five Character Strengths among all members of the community.
Support the faculty and staff with student discipline and provide the supervision needed to ensure consistent enforcement of school norms, both on and off campus.
Coordinate supervision of the campus during unstructured times, including Fresh Air and lunch supervision.
Coordinate supervision at after-school events.
Keep the Head fully informed on student issues and all other relevant matters pertaining to middle school student and community life.
Student Support
Monitor middle school student growth and progress, including monitoring student support plans and probation contracts.
Help coordinate the middle school advisory program.
Coordinate bi-weekly middle school team meetings with the goal of supporting student academic and personal progress.
Communicate as needed with families regarding students’ academic and social well being, work with families to address emerging academic and social issues, facilitate parent conferences, and maintain records relating to parent conferences.
Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $65,000-$85,000 depending on experience. This position is eligible for health, vision, dental, flexible spending accounts, short and long term disability, life insurance, 401(k) with matching contributions, tuition remission and professional development opportunities.
