DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions generates, reviews, and processes in excess of 67,000 applications and serves approximately 38,000 campus visitors each year. The office has 44 career staff, 45-50 part-time/temporary staff, and 150 student staff. Staff work locally and regionally throughout California and the nation.
The office is part of Enrollment Management, which includes Financial Aid and Scholarships, Orientation and Undergraduate Admissions. Enrollment Management is part of the multi-faceted academic Division of Undergraduate Education. Undergraduate Admissions, Enrollment Management and Undergraduate Education work closely with select Academic Senate committees.

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director - Evaluations, the incumbent participates in the evaluation of undergraduate applications and implements outreach and recruitment efforts at high schools and community colleges. The incumbent will apply a wide variety of policies and procedures to determine if applicants have met selection criteria for admission to the University of California, Santa Cruz and if they have achieved eligibility to the University of California.
The incumbent is responsible for the evaluation of academic records from individuals applying for undergraduate admission to the University of California, Santa Cruz as well as continuing students. This includes evaluating academic records of students from California, the U.S., and around the world. The position will also participate in determining transfer credit from external educational institutions and verifying student records for admission purposes.
The incumbent serves as a liaison between prospective students, parents, and counselors at high schools and colleges/universities primarily within California and nationally, establishing strong relationships with all constituents to increase UCSC's brand awareness and admission applications. Information about the UC Santa Cruz educational experience and admissions requirements will be shared during presentations at school visits, individual/small group appointments/workshops, including admitted student receptions. The incumbent will staff local, state, national, and international recruitment fairs and conferences representing the UC system and campus partners including Alumni Association, University Relations, Financial Aid and Scholarship, Housing, and academic divisions.

Budgeted Salary: $67,400 / Annually.

25% - Uses extensive knowledge of department requirements and applicant pool to assess the applicants' overall record and experience for final admissions determination and recommendation. Researches foreign educational systems as needed and analyzes academic records from foreign secondary and tertiary institutions including study abroad records. This includes performing course-by-course evaluations for transfer credits.
20% - Participates in all evaluation processes within Undergraduate Admissions as needed, including: transcript clearing, ensuring correct coding and documentation of decisions and assistance with articulation.
20% - Serves as primary liaison for students and parents at public and private high schools and community colleges. Plans visits, makes presentations, provides group and individual advising. Provides in-depth information to prospective students and their parents regarding admissions requirements, prerequisite major courses, programs and curricula, and financial aid criteria in school and community-based organization settings. Travel regularly constitutes approximately 20 percent of this position's time.
20% - Plans, manages and implements domestic and international events as a part of a larger recruitment and yield strategy. Recommends improvements and modifications to existing programs.
5% - Collects, reviews and analyzes prospective and admitted student data. Uses data to assess the effectiveness of outreach efforts in attracting quality students to UCSC. Assists with the review and analysis of data to ensure data integrity.
5% - Works with evaluation and outreach data to assess the efficacy of programs and processes. This includes working with the Admissions systems team and the client relationship management tool to ensure student information is being properly recorded and stored.
5% - Completes necessary paperwork to adhere to UC, UCSC, and Office of Admissions policies and procedures. This includes pre- and post-travel planning and documentation and providing other compliance documentation as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Thorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to provide and receive clear, concise information, and to effectively communicate and present complex, technical information in professional settings with co-workers, prospective students, their families, and the general public.
Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs for higher education.
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to present complex, technical information in a clear, concise information to a variety of audiences.
Ability to analyze data, including return on investment, and to assess the efficacy of outreach and recruitment programs.
Ability to manage project budgets, provide accurate accounting of expenditures, analyze and interpret reports, and formulate and present recommendations.
Knowledge and experience using standard computing tools including Microsoft Office applications, on-line databases, email, and web-based research tools.
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, particularly in matters relative to sensitive or confidential student records, personnel or organizational matters.
