Position Summary: The SSS-TRIO Program Counselor provides individualized personal and academic counseling, coaching, guidance and advocacy to assist first-generation college students, students from low-income homes and students with disabilities to thrive and graduate. Program Counselors are also responsible for event planning, coordinating programs and teaching and maintaining documentation and data management for federal reporting.
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree
One year of professional work experience advising or counseling college students or experience working in a TRIO Program
Preferred Qualifications: Education:
Masters degree in education, counseling, social work, psychology, or related field
Experience:
Two years of professional work experience advising or counseling college students or experience working in a TRIO Program.
Experience working with diverse populations, contributing to campus diversity efforts, and/or evidence of cultural competence.
Teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
Experience working with students with learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD or on the autism spectrum.
Prior involvement with a TRIO program.
Experience as a first-generation college student, being from a low-income home, or living with a disability.
Licensed Social Worker or Counselor in the State of Idaho.
Skills/Ability to:
Understanding of Hispanic culture and ability to communicate in Spanish, both verbally and in writing.
